A Horie Art School student who was in grade 6 when submitting—and in grade 7 when the result was announced—entered manga for the first time in Shueisha’s Ribon × Jump Elementary School Manga Award and won its highest “Super Manga Artist” prize.
The winning work was also scheduled for publication in the August 2, 2024 issue of Ribon.
The award marked both the 25th elementary-school competition, which Ribon has held since 2008, and Weekly Shonen Jump’s 55th anniversary.
It was a special joint edition involving Ribon and three Jump publications: Weekly Shonen Jump, Shonen Jump+, and Saikyo Jump.
